2019 GMC Sierra Spied

2019 GMC Sierra Spied

The Sierra and Silverado are some of the best vehicles in the World being passed only by a handful of cars. Sadly the trucks started to get old but it looks like GM was well aware of that. Not that long ago they revealed the all new Silverado and with it, we managed to take a closer look at the camouflaged 2019 GMC Sierra as well. As expected, the changes are rather big, so the new model is going to be more efficient, more powerful and likely more capable as well. Even though some of the details are still unknown, it looks like the new Sierra will be a major improvement over its predecessor in every way.

2019 GMC Sierra Rumors, Review

The new Sierra is an entirely new truck, but even so, we still don’t know all the details about it. GM did confirm the new truck is extensively lighter than its predecessor but they also said they didn’t use aluminum. Read about new Tucson 2019

This is a rather interesting turn of events, so let’s take a closer look at the truck.

It looks like the bed is using a new type of high strength steel alloy which should be both lighter and more durable than before. On top of that, it looks like this may be the first production truck to incorporate carbon fiber.

While we still don’t know exactly how much it uses, chances are the new Sierra boast quite a bit in order to be as light as it is. Even with being lighter, the truck also features a high strength steel chassis which should give it far better structural rigidity than before.

Release and Price

The truck is likely going to hit the market by the end of 2018.

Sadly GM still didn’t say exactly when they will release the upcoming 2019 GMC Sierra. Even though the Silverado is already out there, it looks like the GMC will take a while.

The truck is likely going to hit the market by the end of 2018 when it should cost roughly the same as the current model. We are quite interested to see how GM is going to alleviate the cost of all that rumored carbon fiber.

Redesign

The new model looks longer and taller but overall narrower which is definitely unusual.

Even though the model we saw was heavily camouflaged, it looks like it will not be all that different from the Silverado. The two trucks seem to be identical from the profile with roughly the same boxy design lines. The proportions are also different.

The new model looks longer and taller but overall narrower which is definitely unusual. Even so, the new front end with the unusually shaped grille, the large vertical headlights or the neatly integrated fog-lamps make for a rather impressive appearance on the road.

With the new model is also looks like GMC will release some special versions with a higher ground clearance in order to do better in off-road.

Interior

It looks like there will be more soft touch plastic as well as far more leather than before.

The vertical design is sadly still there but we can definitely see an improvement in the materials GM decided to use. For starters, it looks like there will be more soft touch plastic as well as far more leather than before.

The center stack, despite being vertical, will offer a higher-mounted infotainment system for better visibility as well as fewer buttons than before. This should make the truck much easier to use than its predecessor.

Engine and Specs

2019 GMC Sierra is likely going to receive a brand new base engine.

For now there are three different engines available with the Sierra. None of these is really all that efficient, so chances are we are going to see some massive changes here.

If the rumors are anything to go by then the new 2019 GMC Sierra is likely going to receive a brand new base engine. This could be GM’s well known 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 which has been around for a while.

This is known to be able to make up to 335 horsepower and over 270 lb-ft of torque. More than enough for a base model-truck.

On top of that, the older 5.3 liter V8 might get replaced with a twin-turbocharged V6 offering roughly the same amount of power. The range-topping model on the other hand may stick with the large 6.2 liter V8.

Even though a V6 would be able to easily replace it. There are still plenty of people looking to get a V8-powered truck. All three will come equipped with the same 10 speed automatic. A hybrid is also a real possibility but thus far GM has kept quiet about it.
