  • Chassis improvements

The 2019 Honda CR-V has recently received an updated chassis. Developed for models heading to Europe, the new chassis features high-strength steel in 9% of the entire body frame. As a result, its bending rigidity has been boosted by 35% while its torsional rigidity has been boosted by 25%. Due to this construction method, the new chassis is the most rigid that ever used on a Honda model. To ensure guaranteed effectiveness, it is assembled according to a new formula. Its inner frame is constructed first followed by the outer frame and lastly the joints.

  • New suspension setup and steering system

For a better ride quality, the Honda CR-V has been fitted with a new suspension setup. It features struts from MacPherson in the front. On the other hand, the rear wheels have a multi-link combination. This new suspension is combined with a new steering system which is electrically powered using a rack and pinion mechanism. Furthermore, it features a variable ration. It also has a stabilizer bar in the rear and hydraulic bushing in every corner. Thanks to these new technical improvements, the new Honda CR-V is going to be much more stable on the road.

Honda released the 5th generation of the CR-V back at the end of 2016. This was a surprise for most of us especially since Honda didn’t reveal much information beforehand. Even though the model is quite recent, it looks like Honda may release another update soon. So far the details are still scarce but it seems the 2019 Honda CR-V will be the update everyone is talking about. This is likely going to feature a few minor exterior and interior changes but it will receive more attention under the hood.

Rumors and News

2019 Honda CR-V

Honda introduced its new models at the Geneva Motor Show. Many of them are electrically powered, and by 2022, 70% of Honda vehicles will be on the electric drive. And what about CR-V? The next model of this vehicle is pending, and it is assumed that it will be electrically powered with three rows of seats.
More precisely, this model will be presented to the European market. And why not for North America? This is a question for the Honda’s leadership. In fact, the current model Honda CR-V is the largest and most comfortable model ever. What are your thoughts?

In fact Honda already released a version of the car back in Shanghai.

This is currently aimed for the Chinese market only. However, it looks like the manufacturer will also release this model for the US market in the near future. Here you can read the review about the new 2019 Toyota 4Runner

So far there are still far too few reliable sources about its US availability. Even so, it is safe to assume that Honda will not wait for all that long.

This is because they are currently missing some core engine choices which Honda will have to add quite soon in order to remain as competitive as they are today. On top of that, it looks like they will change the price of the CR-V as well.

This is still well under wraps but it looks like Honda will cut the pricing by a good amount, especially on the higher end models. This should allow them to have a more aggressive offer than before which will definitely get Honda at the top of their class. Read about 2019 Honda CR-V on Wikipedia

Redesign

The current model is quite close in design to its predecessor.

Despite that, the 2019 Honda CR-V is not going to be any different. Even though they will release it nearly two years after the initial unveiling, it doesn’t mean the design will have to change. Expect the revised car to look roughly the same as its predecessor.

We may see a new set of headlights and possibly a new grille. New LED clusters for the tail lights are also possible. Some also suggested that Honda will redesign the CR-V in order to get closer to the Accord.

While this would be great, it is unfortunately highly unlikely. Instead, we can expect Honda to offer a new version of the car with the CR-V hybrid.

This will different from the regular model through its different aerodynamic rims, low rolling resistance tires and more than likely different front grille.

Interior

The current CR-V features one of the better looking cabins in its class.

According to Honda’s classic design scheme, the center stack is quite high and quite wide.

Thanks to this the CR-V has most of its buttons as well as the gear selector really close to the driver’s hand. This improved the driving experience and it makes the car far easier to drive than otherwise. It is safe to assume the 2019 Honda CR-V is not going to change much.

The design will likely remain the same as before. However, the car may receive a new infotainment system. Honda revised it already but it looks like they may revise it again as it is not even close to perfection.

2019 Honda CR-V Engine and Hybrid version

The base model of the 2019 Honda CR-V will more than likely continue to come equipped with the same 2.4 liter naturally aspirated mill as before.

This inline-four engine is good for 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque which is quite impressive for its size.

As an option Honda is also offering a 1.5 liter turbo-four. With 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque this is a good upgrade over the larger engine.

Its biggest improvement is the fuel consumption. When equipped with it, the car will use with up to 10% less fuel than otherwise. So far both of them have been available with a CVT gearbox. It looks like things could change.

Even though not official, the new CR-V might get a 10 speed automatic as standard which would definitely elevate the driving experience. On top of that, the car is also going to receive a hybrid.

  1. I’ll only buy buy the CR V with a hybrid or electric drive option. 40 mpg is easy and reliable available technology now. I won’t be lured by simple gadgetry, but instead, I am waiting for real improvement. Engineer

  2. The curb weight of 3400 lb. for the 2019 CRV is over 300lb. less than the RAV4 hybrid. With the fuel economy of Accord hybrid, I would love to buy a CR-V hybrid, just be sure to put the battery under the back seat.
