2019 Subaru Forester Release date

2019 Subaru Forester Release date

The Forester is one of Subaru’s best selling models for a really good reason. It offers car-like driving characteristics while having the interior space of a mid-size SUV. Unfortunately the latest model hasn’t been all that great. The car lacked a truly powerful version and it wasn’t all that great to drive. Luckily though, it looks like things are finally going to change. The upcoming 2019 Subaru Forester is the car that will do all of that. For starters, the new model will get to use Subaru’s all new modular architecture which currently underpins the Impreza

Review

This means the new Forester will become lighter while having increased structural rigidity.

The car’s center of gravity will also be lower than before which is quite interesting. These will translate in better handling characteristics and an overall safer car. Here you can read the review about the new 2019 Jeep Yuntu

So far the details about its wheelbase or width are still unknown. Luckily, not that long ago we managed to take a look at a camouflaged prototype.

This seemed to have a slightly longer wheelbase than its predecessor but it was nearly as tall and as long. On top of that, the car might be wider than before due to the new platform.

Some said the Forester will be able to house up to 7 people but this is highly unlikely. Instead, the extra space will be used for the front and rear passengers which will benefit from more headroom and legroom. Read about Subaru Forester on Wikipedia

2019 Subaru Forester Release and Price

One of the biggest unknown factors about the new Forester is its release date.

So far Subaru released the car in Japan at the Tokyo Auto Show. Chances are they won’t change a thing for the future model but things remain to be seen. The car will likely go in production at the beginning of 2018, in order to be able to finish the development process for it.

The price of the 2019 Subaru Forester should not change much. The base model should still cost around $24,000 which will make it one of the cheapest crossovers on the market.

2019 Subaru Forester Redesign

The Forester always looked like a boxy Impreza and it looks like things won’t change for the new model.

From the spy shots it looks like the boat-like front end is here to stay.

Subaru likely took this decision in order to maintain the approach angle which is far better on the Forester than on any other of its competitors. The rear of the car on the other hand will change dramatically.

Here the new car will boast larger tail lights and a far larger roof-spoiler, both of which seem to be similar to those on the hatchback Impreza. With the longer wheelbase, the car looks a bit more muscular which will definitely help Subaru with its sales.

Competitors

Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Jeep Cherokee

Interior

So far the car had quite a bit in common with the Impreza and chances are things won’t change much.

In fact, it is safe to assume the 2019 Subaru Forester will feature a really similar upper dashboard to the sedan. This is actually good as the Impreza is a far better looking car than it used to be. The simplistic approach will allow the driver to focus on the car’s great handling and really comfortable interior.

As we said above, the passenger will not only receive more space. The rear seats should now receive things like USB plugs, dedicated AC vents and controls as well as sliding seats.

Engine and Specs

Both engines found in the current model aren’t all that impressive.

Things will change with the upcoming 2019 Subaru Forester. The base model will likely stick with a similar 2.5 liter naturally aspirated FB unit.

With around 170 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque on tap, this will provide a great experience for most drivers. For those looking for more, there will also be a 2.0 liter turbo-four FA engine. This time around this should make closer to 260 horsepower and over 260 lb-ft of torque.

Also as a novelty, both engines should now be available with a 6 speed manual. This alone should be well worth the upgrade over its predecessor.

The CVT will remain an option on both but considering the manual is great, we hope not many people will get the CVT on the more powerful engine. As before, all cars will come as standard with Subaru’s great AWD system.
