2020 GMC Acadia Changes

The latest version of the GMC Acadia is a 7 seater marvel. It is a facelift of the previous version. Many of us in the automotive industry expected just a few tweaks to its appearance. However, GMC has gone above and beyond that in their new SUV. It has brand new features such as a turbocharged engine and a slew of tech bits in the cabin. Exterior design

An easily recognizable characteristic of the 2020 GMC Acadia is its squared-jaw grille. To complement this aggressive feature, the new Acadia has C-shaped LED headlights. They are supremely effective and match perfectly with the chrome on the grille.

Upon the hood are some new, muscular creases which make this SUV look beefier. Moreover, the headlight housing has some chrome on its border. This not only makes the new SUV more handsome but also improves reflectivity for better illumination.

The new GMC Acadia has some LED turn indicators built into the wing mirrors. Its wheel arches are also squared off. They give it a masculine look. This SUV rides on 17 inch wheels right from the factory. For maximum protection while driving off-road, the wheel wells are covered in black plastic cladding.

The taillights feature LED technology and have a sleeker shape. The round tail pipes have been replaced with rectangular ones. Last but not least, the antenna stick on the SUV’s roof has now been replaced with a shark fin.

New trim

An interesting characteristic of the 2020 GMC Acadia is that it has an off-road trim. Known as the AT4, it is adapted for rougher driving. Its grille is finished in black chrome. Also, its front fascia is more aggressive than the base trim. To keep things exciting, the AT4 comes with 20 inch wheels right out of the factory. This gives it a higher ground clearance.

Interior design

Much of the cabin has been brought forward from the previous Acadia. However, there are some outstanding improvements in the 2020 GMC Acadia. Its steering wheel is equipped with soft touch buttons that allow the driver to issue commands easily. Upon the console, there’s an 8 inch touch screen display. Through this feature, the driver and occupants can manipulate the infotainment, air conditioning and navigation systems. Connectivity is made possible through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and USB-C ports. The gear shift lever has also been updated to an Electronic Precision Shift system.

The seats in this vehicle are supremely comfortable. They are upholstered in Denali trim. It is available in multiple colors and adds a posh feel to the cabin. To maintain the premium atmosphere, the new SUV’s interior also has numerous open pore wood panels.

The 2020 GMC Acadia seats 7 passengers on 3 rows. The second row is available with a bench or captain’s seats. The third row is available purely with captain’s seats. With the third row upright, the new Acadia has 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

This SUV also has some outstanding technological marvels to improve comfort and convenience. They include a Heads Up Display (HUD), a15 watt wireless charging pad and a hands-free power liftgate. Reversing the SUV is much easier thanks to a High Definition (HD) rear vision digital camera. There are 5 USB charging ports where 2 are USB-C ports.

Engine and specs

Drivers can choose between 3 engines when buying the 2020 GMC Acadia. One of these is a new 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder powerplant. It delivers 230 horsepower with 258 lb-ft of torque.

This new engine has a number of new technological features. It has a twin-scroll turbocharger that gathers exhaust from 2 cylinders in an alternating pattern. It also implements an Active Fuel Management System. This one deactivates 2 cylinders when you’re driving with a lighter load so as to improve fuel efficiency. It also implements an eBoost brake system. This engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission system.

Another engine option for this SUV is a 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder powerplant. It produces 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes in the base SLE trim of this SUV.

The most powerful engine of them all is a 3.6 liter V6. It churns out an astonishing 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes in the AT4 trim.

Release Date, Price and Availability 2020 GMC Acadia

We are hoping that the 2020 GMC Acadia will be launched in late 2019 or early 2020. Its base price is expected to be around $32,000. With the full Denali trim package, this price could rise to $50,000.
