Nissan has a portfolio of crossover models that is fast gaining popularity around the globe. Early releases in this lineup included the Kicks and the Rogue. They also released the Nissan Juke to fill in the space between these models. However, the Juke was discontinued. To replace it, the marque has released the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport. This model was developed specifically for the United States market. As such, it is not going to be sold anywhere else. Here is what we know about the Rogue Sport.

Exterior design

The 2020 Nissan Rogue sport has a brand new front fascia. The grille has also been revamped substantially. Its headlights contain Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The crossover is available in two brand new exterior colors. Its wheels have brand new alloy designs too.

Due to the numerous updates, the new Rogue Sport looks very different from its predecessor. However, it has maintained the core essence. It has a V-Motion grille which surrounds the logo immaculately. Its bumper has been sculpted a little more. The new Rogue Sport’s fog lamps have been moved even lower on the bumper. They now sit flush with the plastic cladding around the bumper.

Between the fog lamps and LED headlights, there are thin strips of LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). This combination of features makes the Rogue Sport look very handsome.

From a side view, the Nissan Rogue has an attractive, neat profile. You can buy this new Nissan with alloy wheels measuring 19 inches in size. The new Rogue Sport’s window sill rakes sharply into the back section. Here, it eats into the rear quarter glass and gives the crossover a coupe-like stance.

An amazing feature of this new model is its taillights. While the taillight housing has been retained, the lamps have LED technology and look much sleeker. They extend all the way to the side of the vehicle. As a result, the new crossover has some Audi-like vibes.

This model is available with two new colors. They are Lime Green and Orange. They are provided in addition to the traditionally available colors which are Black, White, Silver, Blue, Gun Metallic and Red.

Interior design

Within the cabin, many of the features contained in its predecessor have been maintained. The cabin is available in all black. While this color choice is sleek, it can leave occupants feeling a bit claustrophobic. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is multifunctional and there has been some integration of LCD technology in the instrument cluster.

Many other marques are implementing touchpad capability in their crossover SUVs. However, Nissan has retained buttons to control its infotainment system. The Nissan Rogue Sport is available in 3 trims. They are S, SV, and SL. All come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. These also support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The audio setup can be upgraded with a 9-speaker Bose system.

A major update that has been implemented in the 2020 Rogue is its safety system. It has been redeveloped to include facilities such as High Beam Assist, Automated Rear Braking, Radar-Based Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. It also has Automated Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

The new Rogue Sport is a 2-row crossover. With all the seats upright and in place, it provides 22.9 cubic feet of space. With the second row folded forward, it delivers 61.1 cubic feet of space. This crossover has a wheelbase measuring 104.2 inches and ground clearance of 7.4 inches.

Engine and specs

The 2020 Nissan Rogue is powered by a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine. It produces 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT). Due to its engine and transmission setup, this new Rogue is ideal for urban commuting and leisurely drives on the highway. Drivers will have the chance to purchase this crossover with Front Wheel Drive (FWD) or All Wheel Drive (AWD) systems. This engine provides 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Release Date, Price and Availability

We are confident that the 2020 Nissan Rogue will be available in late 2019 and early 2020. It’s base trim will have a price tag of $23,000. Extra features and higher trims will cost more.
