Latest News

The Dodge Ram 2500 is regarded as one of the most capable heavy duty pick up trucks available today. Its latest version is the 2020 Ram 2500. Thanks to a number of new capabilities, the new pick up truck was received to widespread acclaim. To keep it fresh and relevant, it has been updated by the marque. Here are some of the changes that have been implemented in the new version.

  • Some interior features

The 2020 Ram 2500 has a brand new infotainment monitor. Occupying the center-stack in a landscape orientation, the screen measures a whopping 12.3 inches across. This provides the driver and occupants with vivid vehicle data and entertainment. The new screen perfectly complements the new materials in and around the pick up truck’s interior.

This pick up truck has a plethora of new technological updates in the cabin as well. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay have now been added to the vehicle as standard features. In addition to that, the cabin has a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot facility. This boosts connectivity and ensures that occupants stay sufficiently entertained. The various buttons and dials on the center stack are now more tactile too.

  • A new transmission system

To deliver power to the wheels, the Ram 2500 has a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Featuring faster shifting and rapid adaptation to different terrains, the new transmission is bound to deliver power more efficiently to the pick up truck’s wheels.

  • Suspension system adjustments

Some of the new features on this pick up truck include a new suspension setup. The 2020 Ram 2500 has been fitted with a live axle suspension in the front and the back as well. In addition to that, it has a sway bar disconnect. Its front bumper is also fitted with a winch. These features are controlled electronically using buttons on the center stack. With the flick of a switch, the driver can trigger the pick up truck’s suspension to increase or decrease ground clearance. Furthermore, the winch can also be manipulated from the comfort of the cabin. Some LED foglights have been added to the front bumper as well. This gives the truck unparalleled off-road capability. Update: 8.21.2018

The ongoing Ram 2500 has been around since 2010 and it really didn’t change much over the years. While some expected Ram to update the smaller 1500 and let the 2500 unchanged, it looks like this may not be the case. Not that long ago we have seen a camouflaged test mule of what seems to be the future 2020 Ram 2500. The interesting part about it is the fact the truck looks all new, so let’s take a closer look at it and see if this is really a new model. For starters, it looks like the chassis is going to change. The underside of the new model was vastly different from what is currently available. This could mean Ram is preparing for higher capacity models or that they may just be looking to outrun their rivals.

2020 RAM 2500 Rumors, Review

It looks like both the front and rear axles of the truck are going to change quite a bit.

With the new platform we expect the new 2500 to be lighter and more structurally sound than before. This will not only translate in better towing capacity but it should also mean a more comfortable and predicable ride. BMW M3 is here…

On top of all that, it looks like both the front and rear axles of the truck are going to change quite a bit.

The model we have seen a while back had massive differential housings which could suggest a high powered version.

While some suggested Ram won’t go for an aluminum build, we find this unlikely. Why? Well, the added weight of the new chassis and axles would require them to shave quite a bit of weight in order to remain in specs. Read about RAM on Wikipedia…

This likely means that if not the body, at least most of the removable panels, will be made out of aluminum.

Release and Price

Considering the past, it is safe to assume the upcoming 2020 Ram 2500 is going to hit the market close to the end of 2019. This is roughly a year after the release of the 1500 which has been the case before.

The new truck is likely going to cost right around the same as before. The big difference may be at the top end, but more on that a bit later.

Redesign

From the spy shots it looks like the truck may share quite a few more design cues with its predecessor than with the new 1500.

Up to this point, the 2500 looked like a slightly more buff 1500. However, this is not really going to be the case anymore. From the spy shots it looks like the truck may share quite a few more design cues with its predecessor than with the new 1500.

The profile, alongside the massive wheel arches and the relatively tall body, are identical to those found on its predecessor.

On top of that, the truck also seems to feature a similar grille design to the older model which is definitely unusual. Unlike the 1500, the 2500 doesn’t seem to come equipped with the grille missing the cross-hair. Even so, we do hope that Ram will make the two trucks at least mildly similar.

Interior

As before, the cabin of the 2020 Ram 2500 is going to be aimed at those looking to get a work truck. This means all the controls are going to be installed within the reach of the driver and some of them are going to be quite large.

Even so, we expect the truck to come with better materials, a slightly more up to date center stack with fewer buttons than before as well as a new digital instrument cluster.

Engine, Specs

It looks like things won’t change all that much with the 2020 version of the truck.

The current model comes equipped with three different engines. It looks like things won’t change all that much with the 2020 version of the truck. However, the 5.7 liter naturally aspirated V8 may be gone.

In its place we may see a new turbocharged or twin-turbocharged V6 engine, possibly with a mild hybrid system in place, that would develop roughly the same amount of power as the V8.

The big upgrade here would be the fuel consumption which would allow the 2500 to become one of the more efficient big trucks on the market. The 6.7 liter Cummins is likely going to receive a boost to around 400 horsepower and over 950 lb-ft of torque too while the 6.4 liter V8 should carry over unchanged.
