2020 Tesla Roadster Review

Ten years ago, Tesla shocked the world with their first generation Roadster. A relatively unknown company at the time, they loaded a high performance electric motor and a battery set on a Lotus Elise and transformed it into their own debut model. The car went on to smash records by being the first road-legal, electric automobile to reach a 200 mile range on a single charge. From then on, Tesla has launched amazing electric cars. Now the company has released details about their new 2020 Tesla Roadster. It is also known as the Roadster 2.0. According to official reports by the company, the new model is going to be a supercar capable of performance that no other electric or internal-combustion powered model has ever achieved. Read on to discover more about this innovative, high performance car.

2020 Tesla Roadster Exterior design

The 2020 Tesla Roadster has a compact, convertible body style. This exotic car has a brand new body that in no way resembles the former model. The car has the characteristic Tesla front fascia. However, the nose has been drawn back to create a more aerodynamic appearance. Read about new Acura MDX

Furthermore, its headlights further contribute to the swept-back design. They are shaped like arrows pointing towards the front central section of the car. They provide a converging focus that perfectly complements the sporty, flared fenders.

This new supercar from Tesla has a low, wide stance. This helps to create downforce for the purpose of better handling while driving at high speeds. Air-intake vents are situated on the lower section of the front bumper. Moreover, the side skirts and rear also feature acutely shaped air intake scoops.

The cabin has been inched back to create a silhouette that favors its front section. This is characteristic of the universal roadster design. Overall, this supercar has one of the most streamlined bodies today.

Interior design

The futuristic theme that Tesla is known for continues prominently within the interior of the car. The 2020 Tesla Roadster has a minimalist control stack and dashboard. The steering wheel is angled into a rectangular unit that delivers high-performance grip while driving.

It is constructed out of carbon fiber and brushed aluminum. These materials contrast upon it to create a sports car feel. The odometer, mileage and transmission details are presented through a vivid, digital display situated behind the steering wheel. This clearly reflects the space age direction of Tesla design. The middle instrument stack is occupied by a large touchscreen display. It actually could be the largest display in any car today. Made of high strength glass, it stretches down from the top of the instrument panel all the way down the middle section of the cabin. This touchscreen display presents information such as road speed, navigation, air conditioning settings, multimedia and special performance settings as well.

Driver and occupant comfort is guaranteed thanks to sculpted and bolstered bucket seats. They are upholstered in soft Nappa leather that can be of any shade in the primary color palette. Furthermore, the seats are available with options such as contrast stitching and four-point harnesses.

This supercar has a single row of seats. An interesting feature in the new Roadster 2.0 is the G-meter that shows you how much you’re pushing the limits of physics at high speeds.

Engine specs

Being a high performance car, the engine is bound to post some impressive numbers. The 2020 Tesla Roadster runs on an electric powertrain made out of 3 electric motors working together seamlessly. They are combined with a 200 kWh battery. This unit stores sufficient power for use while driving.

This powertrain combination produces 248 horsepower and it transfers power to the wheels through an automatic transmission system.

The car is able to deliver a driving range of 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) on a single, full charge. With this much power behind the wheels, the new Roadster 2.0 is able to achieve a top speed of more than 250 mph. It can also sprint from 0 to 60 mph in only 1.9 seconds.

This is faster than any other car in the world. This battery can be charged from 0% to full capacity in 9.5 hours using a regular 240 volt power outlet.
