2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD Review and Rumors

The Toyota RAV4 was one of the most successful compact crossover models from Toyota. To keep its flame burning, the marque recently released the 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. This is a rugged, off-road version of its RAV4. The popular crossover has been beefed up and granted more off-road features. Here is what we know about it.

Exterior features

The original charm and charisma of the RAV4 has been maintained in the new car. However, a wide collection of new features and facilities have been added. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD has got rid of all its chrome accents and replaced them with black trim. This gives it a sportier appearance.

In its front fascia, the new Toyota has heavily angled, wraparound LED headlights. They extend from the midsection of the front fascia and extend all the way to its fenders. Its grille is actually larger but still looks composed.

Majority of the other TRD Pro models from Toyota have TOYOTA lettering on their grilles instead of the regular badging. The new RAV4 TRD has veered from this track and maintained the regular Toyota logo on its grille.

This new model has its LED fog lights placed a little higher than the regular, low position on the bumper. As a matter of fact, these fog lights are almost at a level position with the grille. Upon the lower section, the performance RAV4 has a skid plate. This section is an important part that plays a bigger role than just being an accessory.

From a side profile, the new RAV4 TRD sits more upright. As a matter of fact, it has a total of 8.6 inch ground clearance. The new crossover SUV also has a longer wheelbase. As a result of this architecture, the new crossover has a reduced breakover angle.

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD rides on 18 inch, TRD alloy wheels directly from the factory. They are wrapped in Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires. Furthermore, they are Severe Snow Rated.

Its alloy setup is very attractive. It complements the black cladding on the vehicle’s side skirts and SUV’s wheel arches. This feature is installed to protect the SUV’s underbelly when driving over rough surfaces. The new RAV4 also has a low roofline. Thankfully, it is not sloped and does not negatively affect headroom for the rear passengers.

In the rear, this model has some elegant taillights. They have a boomerang shape and implement LED technology. Moreover, there is a single tailpipe on each side of the rear. Upon the rear bumper are some slim reflectors and a skid plate on the bottom.

Colors

This new RAV4 will be available in a collection of colors. They include Super White, Lunar Rock, Ruby Flare Pearl and Midnight Black. These colors can be enhanced with the Ice Edge Roof that’s an option.

Interior design

In comparison with the regular RAV4, the interior has not received substantial updates. Regardless, there are a number of important updates which make it more comfortable and boost connectivity.

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD is upholstered in SofTex material. The company indicates that this fabric is softer and more durable than leather. The seats have TRD logos. There are also some all-weather mats on the floor. Upon the center console, there are red accents. The SUV also has red contrast stitching throughout the interior. They remind you that the model is an off-road special build.

The SUV’s front windshield is raked quite sharply. As a result, drivers need to watch their heads when entering the vehicle. For maximum comfort, this new off-road RAV4 has a moonroof and bucket seats all around.

Some of the comfort facilities in this new RAV4 TRD include an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa as well. The cabin has a total of 5 USB ports. They ensures complete connectivity.

Other features of the new RAV4 include temperature conditioned front seats and a hands-free power liftgate. It has dual-zone climate control and blind spot monitors as well. The new RAV4 also facilitates keyless entry.

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD contains Toyota SafetySense 2.0. This system combines Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Lane Control and Automatic Emergency Braking.
